Overview
This product describes bottle PET preforms, PET plastic preforms, and PET preform scrap—naming variants for PET polyester material from preform injection operations, with emphasis on bottle supply chains.
Material is solid PET, often amorphous as moulded, with potential for crystallisation in downstream handling. Neck finish regions may be present in scrap from gate or tunnel trimming.
Physical and chemical notes
- Higher bulk density than equivalent mass of bottle flake before compaction
- IV band depends on resin grade (bottle vs. textile vs. sheet oriented)
- Moisture and temperature history affect subsequent hydrolysis in melt
Recycling pathways
Grinding, washing, extrusion to strand or underwater pellet, and use in fibre, sheet, strapping, or dilution into bottle flake systems where specifications allow.
Origin: South Africa.
